ABOUT US
Hi! I’m Maryann, a 2nd generation Taiwanese-American and mom of a
3-year-old toddler from New York City. My mission is to make the Chinese language more accessible to all families, regardless of their level of fluency, and to share more of my culture and heritage with the world through children’s books!

As a mom, it is very important to me that my daughter and kiddos like her have a strong sense of self and be proud of where they come from. Hence, Our Little Mando was born- to shine a light on our cultural heritage so that children can see themselves better reflected in the books that they read and in the world around them.

My parents are originally from Taiwan and eventually settled down in New York, where I spent most of my childhood.

Growing up, my dream was to become a professional tennis player. If I had any chance of making it, that's what I'd still be pursuing now!

I went to MIT for undergrad and UPenn for my MBA, and have worked in both the finance and education sectors in the U.S. and China.

I love traveling. Exploring new countries, trying new foods, experiencing new cultures… The world is a fascinating place and I want to see it all!

I’m still figuring out how to best teach my daughter more about her mixed Taiwanese-Korean heritage, but have started by writing bilingual and multicultural children's books that she seems to enjoy so far!
